Dreaming Teaching

CELTA was an extraordinary and intense experience.

Last night, one week post-CELTA I had a dream…I was teaching a language focus class. Context had been set and marker sentence had been elicited. Students had just finished analyzing the marker sentence form…

  • Then I woke up. Today is a perfect day to reduce my huge stack of teaching English related papers to a few tidy files on my computer and in my 1GB memory stick. One suitcase and one small duffle stored here in Mexico and one backpack or small duffle traveling with me. No room or need to store paper.
  • This revision was going to take me hours so I had breakfast early and took a walk outside for some open air, sunshine and deep breathing. Also a visit to the ATM would let me know if I would have a bed tonight or not.

That was written last Friday, one week post-CELTA. Indeed I have discarded reams of paper and still have a about about a hundred sheets to sift through and copy or take notes about in Word documents.

I have one large suitcase with everything and a small duffle full of books stored in the locked caged area at the read of the baggage room just to the left of the reception desk. I’ll pick that up on my next trip to Mexico which I hope is later in the month, after visiting my family (Dad in particular) in the USA.
